Duterte fan pages on Facebook are proudly sharing an article about how British Prime Minister Theresa May allegedly said that she wants to be like President Rodrigo Duterte. In fact, when fan page “President Duterte Supporters Worldwide” shared the article on December 22, it went viral, gaining over 2,100 shares, as of writing.

And the comments section exploded with praises for Duterte over the news, wondering why such news isn’t covered by the mainstream media.

However, there were also netizens who were quick to spot that there is something wrong with the source of the story.

We checked one of the sites who carried the story, pinoyspeak.info, which is in our list of fake news sites. The article said that the British Prime Minister said she wished to be as genius like Duterte, who fulfilled his campaign promise.

What seemed to be a direct quote from her said: “I want to be like Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, a hardworker and an intelligent man. Hes fulfilling what he promised, and I think UK can be follow Philippines footsteps.”

Another statement allegedly from her said: “Duterte is my friend, I will work with him. Filipinos will always maintain discipline even in foreign countries like here, i love Filipinos in UK since they are hardworking like their President Mr. Duterte.”

The article even reported that May is considering offering visa-free policy to Filipinos visiting the UK, “courtesy of the President Duterte.”

Yet another statement from her: “For the respect i have for Duterte, and to prove that im in love with his leadership, UK is going to offer Visa-free policy to all Filipinos for a period of three years.”

We checked the source and we were directed to yet another fake news site – fox-channel.com.

All the statements included in the article, allegedly from May, are fake.

And this is not the first fake news linking May to Duterte. We busted a fake news story about May allegedly saying Duterte is unimpeachable a few days ago and another article about her describing Duterte’s first 100 days as “promising.”

The fake news makers also published an article before about Trump wanting to be like Duterte.
